The sheer content and surrounding events that correspond with Sylvia Plath’s “Edge” makes it my favorite poem of hers. Written February 5th, 1963, “Edge” foreshadowed Sylvia’s gesture of leaving two cups of milk with her children just before her suicide on February 11th. While it is indeed a tragic action, it is nevertheless a fascinating element to the life of one of the world’s most celebrated poets. Her husband, Ted Hughes would end up including “Edge” in Plath’s posthumous classic,Ariel,in 1965.

I’ve decided to record “Edge” as the first recording in a series of poems that I truly adore. Also included in this recording are the first verses of “Lady Lazarus.”
